Yes, it appears that summer is winding down with Labor Day past us. We go back to our regular schedule with Sunday worship at 9:00 am and Bible Study & Sunday School following worship.
Do you remember those days in school when the teacher left the room and kids would mess around? As you look at your life, does it ever seem like there are times that you live like Jesus has left the room? Are there things you would not do if Jesus were with you? If you knew that you would see Jesus at worship each week, would you find yourself in church more often? If he was at your home, would you use better language, change your living habits, pray more, read his Word more and treat others better?
Why is it we live as if Jesus is not here or as if Jesus does not exist at all? I realize that we are living in a post-modern world, a world where many do not believe that Jesus was even a real historical figure. Let’s face it, in our world today there are many that don’t believe Hitler really had concentration camps or that even 9-11 happened. People were there! They witnessed these events. They are real! Peter, John, the Marys and over 500 people witnessed Jesus alive, even after his resurrection. They were real people. Our God is real. The faith you profess is real, a gift from the Holy Spirit.
Yet, as sinners, we find ourselves living like Jesus doesn’t matter. We live like I am king and Jesus is my servant. I will come to him when I need him. As you see these attitudes and sins in your life, it hurts to realize how much you have hurt Jesus and treated him as trash! Do we even deserve his blessings, his love? No, we don’t do we. We deserve his judgment and we will get it. The Lord knows our life, both the good and the bad, even our intentions and thoughts. We will stand in judgment!
Oh, but thank the Lord, he also knows why he, our God and Father, sent his Son, Jesus. Jesus came to take our judgment, our hell. Jesus came to save us from our sins, to free us to be able to serve him without fear. He came that we could live life to the full as a redeemed child of God, living in the world knowing Jesus truly goes with us everywhere! As children of God we want to bring Jesus into every part of our lives. As children of God, we want to share his life-giving love to everyone we know. As children of God we want to worship him and listen to him speak to us, encouraging our family of God that he has brought us together into, the church, his body. We also call it the communion of saints. Thank the Lord for leading us to see his love, giving us faith that lets me know his forgiveness is mine! Rejoice in this certainty, my friends.
Summer worship schedule is over, plan to come together with Jesus in regular worship on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. Family Bible time after worship with Sunday school at 10:20 and Bible study at 10:30. I hope the Lord helps you find time for this in your schedules!
Sunday Bible Study – “Life Full in Jesus – Letters from John” This week we will start with John letter to Gaius, 3 John. He speaks of Gaius and his fellow congregation members walking in the truth. What does that look like? How are we doing that in our daily life. What might a letter from John to us sound like? Come join us for this special study!
Mission Festival & Welcome Home Sunday – October 13th.

Pastor Paul will preach for our service and give a presentation with his wife Aneela on their work. Please look to attend and save the date for the special day. A pork chop potluck will take place starting at 11:45. We will also be hosting the LWMS rally following at 1:00 pm.
